Conductors

Copper and aluminum, priced on what the cable is worth

Copper feeder left over from a completed job is not scrap, and it should not be priced like scrap. A clean reel of 4/0 THHN carries the value of the copper, the insulation, the listing, and the fact that another contractor can install it next week.

Aluminum is a different market with different economics, and we buy it on its own terms: XHHW-2, SER, URD, and aluminum feeder in sizes from 6 AWG to 1000 MCM.

  • Copper THHN, XHHW, feeder, and bare grounding conductor
  • Aluminum SER, URD, XHHW-2, and feeder cable
  • Short lengths and damaged cable bought at recovery value, honestly labeled

Medium and high voltage

5 kV to 35 kV, evaluated on condition and documentation

Shielded power cable is the highest value cable most facilities ever hold in surplus, and the easiest to mishandle. Tape shields, concentric neutrals, EPR and XLPE insulation, and 133 percent insulation levels all change what a reel is worth.

We ask for the reel tag, the jacket print, the test documentation if you have it, and a photograph of the cut end. That is usually enough to make a real offer instead of a range.

Real inventory

What surplus wire actually looks like

Racked reels, palletized spools, and yard storage. If your material looks like this, it is worth a conversation before it goes to a scrapyard.

Why sell to us

Why sell your surplus wire instead of scrapping it

Resale value is not scrap value

Scrap pricing pays for metal content. A resalable reel also carries the insulation, the listing, the manufacturer, and the fact that it can be installed tomorrow. That spread is your money.

One offer for the whole lot

We buy mixed reels, partial spools, and full inventories. You do not need to sort, photograph, or list anything individually before contacting us.

An honest split

Resalable cable is priced per foot. Recovery material is priced by weight. You see which is which before you accept anything, instead of one averaged number.

Statewide, not just the big metros

We buy in every Ohio county, including villages and townships far from I-71. Distance affects scheduling, not eligibility.

The process

How selling your surplus wire works

Four steps, no obligation, and a written offer before anything moves.

Send photographs and details

Reel tags, jacket print, a wide shot of the rack, and your best estimate of footage. A packing list helps if you have one.

Receive a written offer

We separate resalable cable from recovery material so you can see how the number was built.

Approve the terms

No obligation until you accept. If the offer does not work, you keep the material and we part on good terms.

Schedule pickup and payment

We coordinate loading and freight, and payment is made according to the agreed terms before material leaves.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Who buys surplus electrical wire in Ohio?

We do. Electrical Wire Buyers Ohio purchases industrial and commercial wire and cable statewide, including full reels, partial reels, spools, and mixed lots. We buy copper and aluminum, building wire and medium voltage cable, from contractors, plants, distributors, utilities, and demolition contractors.

How do I sell surplus wire if I do not know what it is?

Send photographs of the reel tag and the print on the jacket. Those two images usually identify the type, size, and voltage class. If the print is gone, we work from the conductor size and construction.

Is it worth selling partial reels?

Often yes, as a lot. A single partial spool of branch wire is not worth a pickup, but a pallet of them is a normal transaction. Larger partial reels, especially feeder sizes, can stand on their own.

Do you pay more than scrap for copper wire?

On resalable copper, yes, and usually by a wide margin. Short, damaged, or unmarked copper is priced closer to recovery value, which we also buy.

What areas of Ohio do you cover?

The entire state. Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Toledo, Akron, Dayton, and Youngstown are common, but we also buy in smaller cities and villages in every county.

What does not qualify?

Transformers, switchgear, breakers, panels, and general scrap equipment are outside what we buy. This site is limited to electrical wire and cable.

Photographs

Add up to six photographs: reel tags, jacket print, spool ends, and a wide shot of the inventory. Phone photos are fine. Total upload must stay under 10 MB, so resize very large images if needed.

No obligation. We reply with a written offer, usually within one business day.

What happens next

  • We review the wire type, condition, and footage.
  • You receive a written offer that separates resalable cable from recovery value.
  • If you accept, we schedule pickup and payment.
