Power plants are engineered around redundancy, which means spare cable is part of the design philosophy. When units are repowered, retired, or retrofitted, that spares inventory has to go somewhere.

We buy medium voltage cable, control and instrumentation cable, tray cable, and grounding conductor from generating facilities and their contractors. Outage work often produces a concentrated batch of surplus in a short window, and we can schedule around it.

Plant material usually comes with cable schedules and test records, which is exactly what makes a large lot straightforward to price.

What we typically buy from power plants

  • 15 kV and 25 kV cable from auxiliary system upgrades
  • Control and instrumentation cable from DCS replacements
  • Tray cable from cable tray modifications
  • Grounding conductor from grid connection work
  • Spare reels held for retired equipment

Why this material accumulates

Surplus is rarely a mistake. It is the residue of change: a project that was value-engineered, a line that was retooled, a spare purchased for equipment that has since been replaced. The material was correct when it was bought, and it is still correct, which is exactly why it should be sold as cable rather than scrapped.

How we work with power plants

We start with photographs, not paperwork. A few images of reel tags and jacket print, plus a rough count, is usually enough to produce a written offer. If your organization needs a formal record, we provide an itemized offer and a bill of sale suitable for a disposal file.

Pickup is scheduled around your operation. We do not disconnect, cut, or remove installed material; your staff or contractor identifies what is surplus, and we take only that material against a written list.

Electrical wire and cable only. We do not buy transformers, switchgear, breakers, panels, or general scrap equipment.

Questions

Power Plants wire questions

Do you buy cable from plant retirements?

Yes. Retirement projects often produce the largest single lots, including medium voltage cable with documentation.

Can you work during an outage window?

Yes, with advance planning. Outage schedules are tight, so pickups are arranged before the window opens.

What about asbestos-era cable?

Material with asbestos-containing components is outside what we handle. We will tell you immediately if that is a concern.

Do you buy high voltage cable?

We evaluate 69 kV and above case by case and will say when a utility-focused buyer is the better route.

The process

How selling your surplus wire works

Four steps, no obligation, and a written offer before anything moves.

Send photographs and details

Reel tags, jacket print, a wide shot of the rack, and your best estimate of footage. A packing list helps if you have one.

Receive a written offer

We separate resalable cable from recovery material so you can see how the number was built.

Approve the terms

No obligation until you accept. If the offer does not work, you keep the material and we part on good terms.

Schedule pickup and payment

We coordinate loading and freight, and payment is made according to the agreed terms before material leaves.

Request a quote

Tell us what you have. Photographs of the reel tags and jacket print let us quote accurately the first time.

What you have
Photographs

Add up to six photographs: reel tags, jacket print, spool ends, and a wide shot of the inventory. Phone photos are fine. Total upload must stay under 10 MB, so resize very large images if needed.

No obligation. We reply with a written offer, usually within one business day.

What happens next

  • We review the wire type, condition, and footage.
  • You receive a written offer that separates resalable cable from recovery value.
  • If you accept, we schedule pickup and payment.
