Medium Voltage Cable Buyers in Ohio

We purchase surplus medium voltage cable from contractors, plants, distributors, and utilities throughout Ohio. Written offers, pickup arranged.

Electrical wire and cable only · Statewide Ohio coverage

Medium voltage cable is the most valuable cable most Ohio facilities will ever have in surplus, and the most commonly mishandled. A 15 kV feeder reel that cost thousands of dollars is often scrapped because nobody wants to deal with the test records.

We buy 5 kV, 8 kV, 15 kV, 25 kV, and 35 kV cable in copper and aluminum, with EPR or XLPE insulation, and with either a tape shield or a concentric neutral. Sizes run from 2 AWG through 1000 MCM, with 133 percent insulation levels being the most common in industrial work.

Reels with factory test reports and intact seals are the easiest to place. Reels without documentation are still purchased, but the offer reflects the cost of testing before resale.

Medium Voltage specifications we work from

The table below lists the constructions and ratings we see most often. If your material does not match exactly, send the jacket print and we will identify it.

How we evaluate and price Medium Voltage

Every reel is placed in one of two buckets before a number is attached to it. Resalable cable is priced per foot on type, size, continuous length, jacket condition, and documentation. Recovery material is priced by weight on a certified scale. You see the split, because a single averaged number hides the only decision that matters.

Continuous length is the biggest variable. A reel with a legible tag and an unbroken run is straightforward. A reel with no tag, a weathered jacket, and an unknown remainder is a different product, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.

What helps us quote accurately

  • A photograph of the reel tag showing length and manufacturer
  • A close-up of the print on the jacket: type, size, voltage, temperature rating
  • A wide shot showing how many reels are in the stack
  • A photograph of the cut end, so the conductor and shield can be seen
  • Storage history: indoors, outdoors, or in a wet area

Selling Medium Voltage anywhere in Ohio

We buy in every county, from Cuyahoga and Franklin to the smaller counties in the southeast. There is no requirement to bring material to a yard, and we do not claim a local branch we do not have. What we do have is a straightforward process: photographs, a written offer, and a pickup that is scheduled around your operation.

If you are unsure whether your material fits this category, send it anyway. Misidentifying cable is common, and telling you that you have something more valuable than you thought is a good outcome for both of us.

Questions

Medium Voltage buying questions

What makes medium voltage cable resalable?

Intact insulation, an undamaged shield, clean ends, and documentation. Because the cable operates at high stress, buyers are careful about anything that could have damaged the insulation during storage or removal.

Do you need test reports?

They help considerably. Without them, we assume the cable needs a proof test before it can be resold, and the offer reflects that cost.

Can you buy cable that has been in service?

Yes, with the understanding that used medium voltage cable is evaluated more conservatively. Service age, fault history, and how it was removed all matter.

What is the difference between 100 and 133 percent insulation?

It refers to the insulation thickness relative to the basic impulse level. 133 percent is common in industrial and utility applications where transients are expected.

The process

How selling your surplus wire works

Four steps, no obligation, and a written offer before anything moves.

Send photographs and details

Reel tags, jacket print, a wide shot of the rack, and your best estimate of footage. A packing list helps if you have one.

Receive a written offer

We separate resalable cable from recovery material so you can see how the number was built.

Approve the terms

No obligation until you accept. If the offer does not work, you keep the material and we part on good terms.

Schedule pickup and payment

We coordinate loading and freight, and payment is made according to the agreed terms before material leaves.

Request a quote

Tell us what you have. Photographs of the reel tags and jacket print let us quote accurately the first time.

Photographs

Add up to six photographs: reel tags, jacket print, spool ends, and a wide shot of the inventory. Phone photos are fine. Total upload must stay under 10 MB, so resize very large images if needed.

No obligation. We reply with a written offer, usually within one business day.

What happens next

  • We review the wire type, condition, and footage.
  • You receive a written offer that separates resalable cable from recovery value.
  • If you accept, we schedule pickup and payment.
