Copper Wire Buyers in Ohio

We purchase surplus copper wire from contractors, plants, distributors, and utilities throughout Ohio. Written offers, pickup arranged.

Electrical wire and cable only · Statewide Ohio coverage

Copper electrical wire is the single most valuable item most Ohio facilities have sitting idle. A pallet of 500 MCM copper feeder left over from a completed job can represent tens of thousands of dollars of material, and it is usually stored in the same corner of the warehouse for years because nobody wants to deal with it.

We buy that material directly. Copper building wire, feeder cable, service entrance cable, bare grounding conductor, and mixed copper spools are all purchased on resale value rather than scrap weight, which is why a clean reel of 4/0 THHN is worth considerably more to us than the same copper would bring at a scrapyard.

Our purchases cover the whole state, from contractor yards in Cuyahoga and Franklin counties to plant storerooms in Allen, Stark, and Butler counties. You do not need a full truckload to start a conversation, and you do not need original packaging, though both help.

How we evaluate and price Copper Wire

Every reel is placed in one of two buckets before a number is attached to it. Resalable cable is priced per foot on type, size, continuous length, jacket condition, and documentation. Recovery material is priced by weight on a certified scale. You see the split, because a single averaged number hides the only decision that matters.

Continuous length is the biggest variable. A reel with a legible tag and an unbroken run is straightforward. A reel with no tag, a weathered jacket, and an unknown remainder is a different product, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.

What helps us quote accurately

  • A photograph of the reel tag showing length and manufacturer
  • A close-up of the print on the jacket: type, size, voltage, temperature rating
  • A wide shot showing how many reels are in the stack
  • A photograph of the cut end, so the conductor and shield can be seen
  • Storage history: indoors, outdoors, or in a wet area

Selling Copper Wire anywhere in Ohio

We buy in every county, from Cuyahoga and Franklin to the smaller counties in the southeast. There is no requirement to bring material to a yard, and we do not claim a local branch we do not have. What we do have is a straightforward process: photographs, a written offer, and a pickup that is scheduled around your operation.

If you are unsure whether your material fits this category, send it anyway. Misidentifying cable is common, and telling you that you have something more valuable than you thought is a good outcome for both of us.

Questions

Copper Wire buying questions

Is surplus copper wire worth more than scrap?

Usually yes, and often by a wide margin. Scrap pricing pays for the copper content only. A resalable reel also carries the value of the insulation, the manufacturing, the UL listing, and the fact that a contractor can put it to work tomorrow. Short, damaged, or unmarked copper falls back toward scrap value, which we also buy.

What length does copper wire need to be to sell as product?

For branch sizes such as 12 and 10 AWG, continuous lengths of roughly 100 feet or more are workable. For feeder sizes such as 4/0 and 500 MCM, longer runs matter more, generally 250 feet and up. Shorter pieces are still purchased, but they are priced as recovery material.

Do you buy copper wire that has been stored outdoors?

Yes, with a caveat. Sun-degraded jacket, water intrusion, and corroded conductor ends reduce value. Send photographs of the reel and the exposed end so we can see the condition before anyone moves it.

How is copper wire priced?

We price per foot on resalable reels based on type, size, length, and condition, and per pound on material that is only good for recovery. You receive a written offer that states which basis applies to each reel.

The process

How selling your surplus wire works

Four steps, no obligation, and a written offer before anything moves.

Send photographs and details

Reel tags, jacket print, a wide shot of the rack, and your best estimate of footage. A packing list helps if you have one.

Receive a written offer

We separate resalable cable from recovery material so you can see how the number was built.

Approve the terms

No obligation until you accept. If the offer does not work, you keep the material and we part on good terms.

Schedule pickup and payment

We coordinate loading and freight, and payment is made according to the agreed terms before material leaves.

Request a quote

Tell us what you have. Photographs of the reel tags and jacket print let us quote accurately the first time.
