SEU Cable Buyers in Ohio

We purchase surplus SEU cable from contractors, plants, distributors, and utilities throughout Ohio. Written offers, pickup arranged.

Electrical wire and cable only · Statewide Ohio coverage

SEU is the oval service entrance cable with two insulated conductors and a bare neutral wrapped concentrically around them. It is still installed on overhead residential services and on plenty of agricultural and light commercial work around Ohio.

We buy copper and aluminum SEU in the common service sizes, 6 AWG through 4/0, along with larger feeder assemblies where lengths allow. Because SEU is oval and the neutral is exposed, condition matters: a crushed or abraded neutral is a real defect, not cosmetic.

Full reels from a distributor are the simplest transaction. Partial reels from a service upgrade are also purchased, priced on the measured remainder and the condition of the concentric neutral.

How we evaluate and price SEU Cable

Every reel is placed in one of two buckets before a number is attached to it. Resalable cable is priced per foot on type, size, continuous length, jacket condition, and documentation. Recovery material is priced by weight on a certified scale. You see the split, because a single averaged number hides the only decision that matters.

Continuous length is the biggest variable. A reel with a legible tag and an unbroken run is straightforward. A reel with no tag, a weathered jacket, and an unknown remainder is a different product, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.

What helps us quote accurately

  • A photograph of the reel tag showing length and manufacturer
  • A close-up of the print on the jacket: type, size, voltage, temperature rating
  • A wide shot showing how many reels are in the stack
  • A photograph of the cut end, so the conductor and shield can be seen
  • Storage history: indoors, outdoors, or in a wet area

Selling SEU Cable anywhere in Ohio

We buy in every county, from Cuyahoga and Franklin to the smaller counties in the southeast. There is no requirement to bring material to a yard, and we do not claim a local branch we do not have. What we do have is a straightforward process: photographs, a written offer, and a pickup that is scheduled around your operation.

If you are unsure whether your material fits this category, send it anyway. Misidentifying cable is common, and telling you that you have something more valuable than you thought is a good outcome for both of us.

Questions

SEU Cable buying questions

Do you buy SEU that was removed from an old service?

Often yes, if the cable is clean and the neutral is not damaged. Older SEU with deteriorated jacket or corroded neutral is bought as recovery material.

Is SEU still used in Ohio?

Yes, primarily for overhead services and for appliances such as ranges and dryers. It is less common than SER on new commercial work, which affects how quickly it resells.

What length is worth selling?

For 2/0 and 4/0 aluminum, a 100 foot remainder is worth a conversation. Short pieces under 25 feet are usually recovery value.

Can I sell SEU by weight?

Yes. If the cable is not resalable, we price it by weight on a certified scale.

The process

How selling your surplus wire works

Four steps, no obligation, and a written offer before anything moves.

Send photographs and details

Reel tags, jacket print, a wide shot of the rack, and your best estimate of footage. A packing list helps if you have one.

Receive a written offer

We separate resalable cable from recovery material so you can see how the number was built.

Approve the terms

No obligation until you accept. If the offer does not work, you keep the material and we part on good terms.

Schedule pickup and payment

We coordinate loading and freight, and payment is made according to the agreed terms before material leaves.

Request a quote

Tell us what you have. Photographs of the reel tags and jacket print let us quote accurately the first time.
