Utility Cable Buyers in Ohio

We purchase surplus utility cable from contractors, plants, distributors, and utilities throughout Ohio. Written offers, pickup arranged.

Electrical wire and cable only · Statewide Ohio coverage

Utility surplus is different from contractor surplus. It usually comes with better documentation, tighter specifications, and a defined disposal process, and it is usually stored in a yard rather than a warehouse.

We buy URD primary and secondary cable, substation control cable, service cable, and grounding conductor from utilities, cooperatives, and line contractors. Municipal utilities and electric cooperatives around Ohio are frequent sellers of surplus reels after a rebuild or a specification change.

Because utility material is standardized, the reel tag usually tells us everything we need. Where documentation is missing, we inspect the jacket print and the shield construction.

Utility Cable specifications we work from

The table below lists the constructions and ratings we see most often. If your material does not match exactly, send the jacket print and we will identify it.

How we evaluate and price Utility Cable

Every reel is placed in one of two buckets before a number is attached to it. Resalable cable is priced per foot on type, size, continuous length, jacket condition, and documentation. Recovery material is priced by weight on a certified scale. You see the split, because a single averaged number hides the only decision that matters.

Continuous length is the biggest variable. A reel with a legible tag and an unbroken run is straightforward. A reel with no tag, a weathered jacket, and an unknown remainder is a different product, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.

What helps us quote accurately

  • A photograph of the reel tag showing length and manufacturer
  • A close-up of the print on the jacket: type, size, voltage, temperature rating
  • A wide shot showing how many reels are in the stack
  • A photograph of the cut end, so the conductor and shield can be seen
  • Storage history: indoors, outdoors, or in a wet area

Selling Utility Cable anywhere in Ohio

We buy in every county, from Cuyahoga and Franklin to the smaller counties in the southeast. There is no requirement to bring material to a yard, and we do not claim a local branch we do not have. What we do have is a straightforward process: photographs, a written offer, and a pickup that is scheduled around your operation.

If you are unsure whether your material fits this category, send it anyway. Misidentifying cable is common, and telling you that you have something more valuable than you thought is a good outcome for both of us.

Questions

Utility Cable buying questions

Do you buy from municipal utilities and cooperatives?

Yes. Those organizations often have defined surplus processes, and we are comfortable working within them, including providing documentation for the sale.

Is used utility cable acceptable?

Sometimes. Direct buried cable that was pulled after a rebuild is evaluated on jacket condition and test history.

What about cable with a utility's own markings?

Private markings do not change the underlying product. They can affect resale, which we take into account.

Can you work with a formal bid process?

Yes, for larger lots. We can provide a written offer that fits a procurement record.

The process

How selling your surplus wire works

Four steps, no obligation, and a written offer before anything moves.

Send photographs and details

Reel tags, jacket print, a wide shot of the rack, and your best estimate of footage. A packing list helps if you have one.

Receive a written offer

We separate resalable cable from recovery material so you can see how the number was built.

Approve the terms

No obligation until you accept. If the offer does not work, you keep the material and we part on good terms.

Schedule pickup and payment

We coordinate loading and freight, and payment is made according to the agreed terms before material leaves.

Request a quote

Tell us what you have. Photographs of the reel tags and jacket print let us quote accurately the first time.
