THWN and THWN-2 Wire Buyers in Ohio

We purchase surplus THWN / THWN-2 from contractors, plants, distributors, and utilities throughout Ohio. Written offers, pickup arranged.

Electrical wire and cable only · Statewide Ohio coverage

THWN and THWN-2 are the wet-location versions of the familiar nylon-jacketed building wire, and in Ohio they are everywhere: pump stations, car washes, food plants, wastewater treatment, outdoor feeders, and any conduit run that sees condensation.

The difference between the two matters to a buyer. THWN is rated 75 degrees Celsius in wet locations, while THWN-2 carries a 90 degree Celsius wet rating. Because the marking is printed on the jacket, a photograph of that print settles most questions about what you have.

We purchase single conductor THWN and THWN-2 in copper and aluminum, in sizes from 14 AWG to 1000 MCM, as well as multi-conductor assemblies that carry the same rating.

How we evaluate and price THWN / THWN-2

Every reel is placed in one of two buckets before a number is attached to it. Resalable cable is priced per foot on type, size, continuous length, jacket condition, and documentation. Recovery material is priced by weight on a certified scale. You see the split, because a single averaged number hides the only decision that matters.

Continuous length is the biggest variable. A reel with a legible tag and an unbroken run is straightforward. A reel with no tag, a weathered jacket, and an unknown remainder is a different product, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.

What helps us quote accurately

  • A photograph of the reel tag showing length and manufacturer
  • A close-up of the print on the jacket: type, size, voltage, temperature rating
  • A wide shot showing how many reels are in the stack
  • A photograph of the cut end, so the conductor and shield can be seen
  • Storage history: indoors, outdoors, or in a wet area

Selling THWN / THWN-2 anywhere in Ohio

We buy in every county, from Cuyahoga and Franklin to the smaller counties in the southeast. There is no requirement to bring material to a yard, and we do not claim a local branch we do not have. What we do have is a straightforward process: photographs, a written offer, and a pickup that is scheduled around your operation.

If you are unsure whether your material fits this category, send it anyway. Misidentifying cable is common, and telling you that you have something more valuable than you thought is a good outcome for both of us.

Questions

THWN / THWN-2 buying questions

How can I tell whether my wire is THWN or THWN-2?

Read the print on the jacket. It will list the designations, often as THHN or THWN-2 on the same line. If the print has faded, send a clear close-up photograph and we will help identify it.

Is THWN-2 always better than THWN?

It has a higher wet-location temperature rating, so it can be used in more applications. That generally makes THWN-2 easier to resell, though both are purchased.

Do you buy wet-location wire that has actually been wet?

Water inside a jacket is different from a damp exterior. If the conductor ends show corrosion or water has tracked under the insulation, the material is priced as recovery rather than resale. Photographs of the cut ends answer this quickly.

Can I sell short cut lengths of THWN?

Yes. Short lengths are purchased as a lot, usually by weight, rather than as individual resalable pieces.

The process

How selling your surplus wire works

Four steps, no obligation, and a written offer before anything moves.

Send photographs and details

Reel tags, jacket print, a wide shot of the rack, and your best estimate of footage. A packing list helps if you have one.

Receive a written offer

We separate resalable cable from recovery material so you can see how the number was built.

Approve the terms

No obligation until you accept. If the offer does not work, you keep the material and we part on good terms.

Schedule pickup and payment

We coordinate loading and freight, and payment is made according to the agreed terms before material leaves.

Request a quote

Tell us what you have. Photographs of the reel tags and jacket print let us quote accurately the first time.
